Car - 01 Pontiac Bonneville SE

Amp - Lansar 2000w 900rms

Sub - 10" Audiobahn aw1006t

HU - Alpine

I was hoping someone can help me out here. Ive installed 3 sub systems before so this stuff isnt completely new to me but it has been about 4 years since i installed a system. Anyways i installed a new HU in my car (requires a special harness which includes door chimes) and im trying to get my sub to work. Amp lights up Power light is on but the sub wont hit. if you feel the sub tho you can tell that it is working but its not hitting. The speaker itself doesnt move thats how little sound is coming out of it.

Here is what i have done to troubleshoot so far

- tried my spare amp too (xplod 760w) 10" sub, same result

- tried my spare box with 2 12" audiobahns to both amps, same result

- HU has the sub turned up all the way to +15

- tried all the dials on both amps and turned power to max

Please if you guys have any clue just let me know. ill take pictures if need be. after 10+ hours and 2 days i decided to break down and post and see what you guys thought.

Is it possible the HU is broken? The RC and power/ground wires are brand new

Can you please explain to us how you grounded the amp, whate gauge wire was used for power, and how the subwoofer is wired up. To me it just sounds like the sub is either a very high impedence or you are not getting enough power to the amp. There is also the possiblity that the preouts on the HU are not sourcing significant voltage. Try pluging an ipod directly into the amps RCA inputs and see what you get. Also please tell us how your gain is set.

If you are unfamiliar w these bonnevilles. the battery is under the rear seat. it is grounded to one of the seat belt bolts. it is a 2500 watt power wire, 1 gauge. The box has 4 wire inputs 2+ and 2-. there is one positive and one negative to each each side of the woofer. they are soldered. This sub had workewd for me for 2 years in my old car wired like this(w the 760w xplod). I do not have an ipod if you can believe that lol. also this head unit is very old. prob from 2003 or so. How can i tell how my gain

is set. are you speaking of the lpf and hpf knobs on the amp? if so 35 is lowest and 400 is max and the knobs are right in the middle.

yeah i took that into consideration butim 100% positive im getting some movement from them. but you are corrects i can see how someone would think that the sub is working when it isnt. especially being under a set of 6x9's

If it's under the rear seat then why are you not running the ground off of the battery? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

Swap out the rca's with a different set (if you have an extra set or know of someones you can barrow) and try that first. Keep it simple before you start to replace everything

you can turn down the settings on all your speakers off of the HU to see if the subs play

too bad you got that harness. coulda saved you some money :/

i just lifted the seat up and it is indeed grounded to battery(srry for the misinfo). my brother was the one who wired that stuff while i was trying to get the HU to sit in its place. I will try the rca jacks but im really trying to avoid pulling that stereo back out of there. space behind there is tight and getting it to sit in there properly took hours lol. the HU has a dc to dc converter thats 4in x 2in plus i got the door chime box thats 5in x 2 in there and all of this has to fit behind a stereo thats slightly longer that the factory unit.

You dont need an ipod exactly to check the rca's on that amp. You just need any mp3 player with a 3.5mm headphone jack and a cable that has a 3.5mm jack on one end and the red and white rca cables on the other end. That will make your life easier without pulling out the HU and im sure you might know somebody with an mp3 player or cell phone that you could barrow. The cable is like $5 to $10.

anyways ill be gone for a couple hours. i have to run to the junkyard and probobly stop at the store and grab a set of these rca jacks. 5-10 dollars is well worth it instead of taking that stereo back out(ugh). ill be working on it again when i come back so more ideas are welcome. and all your help so far is appreciated!

more ideas are pointless right now until you try that first because you should always follow the trial and error testing. dont jump from one thing to another without testing yet. its like if a car stops running, 20 people will tell you it's something different until you just about replace the whole vehicle with new parts and it still doesnt start.
