Installation Help - No Power

Hey, i just joined because i spent a good 5 hours tonight trying to do my first HU installation...to no success. After spending a couple hours wondering how the hell Scorsche expected me to mount my new HU (Pioneer DEH-P3700MP) i finally cram everything in there by notching the plastic bracket and sliding on the clip on mounting screws from my old Delco HU...nothing happens when i hook the battery back up. Car runs fine, all my lights are on...but no response from the new unit. If it helps to know i ended up duct taping the harness together...couldn't find my old soldering iron :p

Thansk in advance for any help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

All i really did was splice the Scorsche/Pioneer harnesses together (like color to like color) with duct tape and plugged it in. I just screwed the ground into the metal screw hole on the chassis of the HU like it was done on my old HU.

All i can really think of is the fact that it isn't crimped/soldered and that since the Scorsche kit didn't include new brackets/a way to mount with my factory brackets so i improvised and attached those "clip on" mounting screws to the plastic adapter.

Er, and now that i look, the ground goes from the Scorsche harness and terminates in an unused wire and on the pioneer harness goes from C clip into the HU. Is this right or should the two ground lines be connected or something?

Haha, whoops. Apparently while i was drinking last night i decided that simply interlacing the individual strands of the wires would be good enough. So wrong...so not dirnking tonight when i run out for a new iron. Sorry guys, i'll try again sober before i ask for more help ;P

I got the kit from CarDomain. They sent the Scorsche GM1503 without brackets but i need new brackets for it to fit as intended. I went out and got a $3.99 iron and it works fine for now, even if i can't strech my antennae into the back of the HU and my "custom" bmounts keep me from putting the marquee back on.

If you were sent a GM1503 kit without brackets, then someone else had bought that kit and returned it with no brackets or someone had swiped the brackets out of it. That kit is a great kit and comes supplied from Scosche with a crapload of brackets for most vehicles. IF you were anywhere near me, I would give you some brackets. I would give CarDomaon and buzz and have them send you a new kit. A antenna extension is sometimes necessary as well, they can be found at any auto parts store and maybe even Wal-Mart (where that same Scosche kit should be - may be a slightly different model# though).
