I still can't get over why the large dial doesn't have more (or COMPLETE) function when selecting through the ipod menus. Don't get me wrong I love the iPod features but I'm also beginning to miss the fact that I can't pop in an artist's original cd. I thought I wouldn't, but I am.

Well, every unit has it's quirks...I don't like the large knob function, or lack there of, either. Should have done away with the "Spring action" and just done rotary, and had the press of it control more!

But, I do like the pause and mute that aren't on my other unit! And most of all? I hate the power off...you have to hold it way too long! I just like a button you press once..and blink...off it goes! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

A few minor quibbles. but **** if the interface isn't great!

LOL...yeah, well, I was trying something the last few days and put my old Rockford back in...it's a pain in the arse trying to change discs while driving!! The sound quality difference of a CD, to an ipod or any other mp3 source for that matter is night and day though. Dont get me wrong, i use my ipod too 5k songs on tap //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif, but cd's are the way to go for studio sound.

I wouldnt say NIGHT AND DAY...I don't see that...however my Rockford Fosgate does sound a bit better...but is i the 9 volts? Is it the CD? That old radio was some fine equipment back in the day...were the iDA is a different animal. The only thing that was a bit dissapointing is the bass reproduction. I'm used to the RFX bass for 10 years...so all of a sudden I put the new unit in and it sounds 'different'.

BUT...i've seen this with CD Units as well! night and day, in some cases, on standard CD players...

For instance, with my Focal amps, the iDA front stage is FANTASTIC! The RFX is a different sound, and just as fantastic, in a different way. The bass/sub end of things is very smooth, powerful and clean with the RFX...the iDA? A little muddy, but just as powerful, but in a different way. not what I'm used to.

I'll say one thing, I don't think I'll use another Alpine. I thought my cousins systems back in the day were the way they were because of the MB's and Zapco stuff...but I think it's the Alpine processing I don't care for. I'm more of a Eclipse/Denon/RFX (Delco) guy I guess.

Next up? PRS880 or 9255.
