I don't know much about audio, but 80 amps X 14.4= 1152watts, that's nowhere near 2000 watts.

whoa... if that formula is any where near true my lil pioneer is putting out ~700 watts

thats jus a rough figure....u also gotta figure that the fuses can take a tad more than the 80a to make them blow.....also the amp could be slightly under rated....but still no where near 2500w rms

i thought that with swiching power supplies and use of pwm could make it possible for an amp to essentially use more current than its fuse's ratings (but not take all the current in at once) i dont fully understand pwm, but i have a good idea of it- i suppose if a company decided to put the fuses in line after the step up transformer- then, an amp with 2 40a fuses wired in parallel would be able to spit out well over 2000w- buuuuuut im pretty positive that they dont do that...

anyone see any sense or what im sayin or no?
