I always carry two sets of keys, one in my left front pants pocket and one in my right front pants pocket. Back in 1977, I had this gorgeous 1967 Buick Electra 225 and locked myself out. Thankfully it was a 4-door hardtop, so I was able to coathanger the lock but not wanting to deal with this hassle again, I duplicated the keys.

31 years later and I've never had a problem locking myself out of my car.

when i first started driving i used to lock my keys in my truck all the time. I always had to call my mommy to come with extra keys to let me in. Then i wised up and got a long chain to clip my keys to my belt loop.

That worked fairly well, except that one time i slammed the door with the chain on and with the keys sitting on my seat. It would have made me feel really dumb except i was so intoxicated i figured it wasn't an adequate representation of my intellect.
