Has anyone done this effectivly? Did you just use the door cavity as the chamber for the rear wave, or did you vent the rear wave outside? If you vented outside, how did you do it and how audable is it outside the car?

You can do it either way. By true definition, the rear wave, or whatever side is opposite of your listening perspective, should be as large as possible, or infinite. Venting through the door into the atmosphere would be the ideal true IB install, but is it worth the hassle? Doubt it. Do your best to seal the front wave from the rear and you should have great results.
