Indash DVD Wiring Question

Nothing Is Promised
I just picked up my IVA-D310 on Tuesday night. Today I got my harness and I am ordering my dash pieces tomorrow hopefully.

I get all of the wiring but my question is about the ebrake and foot pedal wires. I have a nice little ON/OFF toggle switch that I want to use for the ebrake. I talked to my local shop when I got my harness today, and they said I need a push type button (no idea where to look for one of those) for the foot pedal wire to simulate actually pushing the brake pedal so I can watch DVDs without being parked.

Do I just run like a ground wire to the switches and then to the tuner box or what? This is my first indash dvd install. I've done many HU's but never dealt with the ebrake/foot pedal thing. Thanks.

Why would you want to use the toggle switch? Maybe I am just missing something, and I have never installed that particular unit, but I would just ground the ebrake wire and be done with it. That's what I have done on Kenwood/Eclipse units I've had and worked fine.

Well you have to have a foot pedal wire and ebrake wire. That is why the push button type is needed. You have to push the brake pedal, pull the ebrake, unrelease the ebrake and reset the ebrake then release the brake pedal so the unit knows you are "parked."

Toggle Switch (simple on/off) = ebrake. So I can just flip that on, and push the other switch that acts like the foot pedal.

Alright, didn't know that about the Alpine, guess I learned something new today.
Yeah, it's retarded. So you've just grounded your wires? Do you ground them where the unit is grounded or what?

My next "problem" is where in the hell to mount the tuner box.

Alright, didn't know that about the Alpine, guess I learned something new today.
Yes, for the Alpine units you HAVE to simulate a series of parking brake, foot brake actions.

I didn't wire a switch to mine, so I'm not sure exactly how you would do it.

However, I did get a bypass for it:

Either will work. I have the pac TR-7. It works on the D310 and w200 from what I hear as well. Read about half-way down: http://forum.sounddomain.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=57;t=002356#000000

It may be a little expensive, and I'm willing to bet you don't want to wait for it to come in, but if I were you I would order it. It's really easy to install.

If you have the lack of patience I did, order the bypass, and wire up the switch for now, while waiting for the bypass to come in.

My $.02.

IIRC you only need to ground the parking break wire, for a switch just hook the parking break wire From the HU brain, to one side of the switch, then ground the other side.

for the foot break, i belive thats used for nav.

Well shipping is **** $12 on the TR-7 so it goes up to $33. Yeah not a lot but I don't want to take anymore money out of the bank because I spent a chunk on the D310. So I might wait and just go buy a $2 switch this weekend. Because I still have to order ~$60-70 worth from Honda.
