hey all. i just got my mtx sw2 and hooked it up. what i'm wondering is, how can i get it louder? its supposed to bang harder than my sa-wm500. its EXTREMELY detailed, but it has much more xmax. should i change the location? put wood under it? WHAT SHOULD I DOOOOOOOOOO? i want this thing to bang harder than the wm500.

fire it into a corner, or if you have wood floors, downfire.

port it.

more amplifier power.

lots of things you can do.

ok well its downfiring and ported. i'm thinking about putting it behind my dresser (forms an equlateral triangle with the wall:

should i put it back there? theres enough room, but i would want to see it. and that could also make it resound by changing the acoustics (i know bass is omnidirectional) so whats this transmission line

so whats this transmission line

http://t-linespeakers.org/

in a nutshell, it's an enclosure with a "port" that tapers down from the driver, to Sd at the end. Reverses the back wave, accentuating lower frequencies. Generally bigger than your standard bass reflex enclosure (mine for my 15" will be 9 cubes with over 80 inches of "port", but then again, it's not a ported box).

Might be worth considering.

alright, i got a piece of wood from my neighbor and i put it under it. small gain at best. what else can be done to this? when i heard it in circuit city, it frikin slammed. what else? i dont really have a corner to put it in...any other thoughts?

well i don't want to get rid of this or to buy a new driver...my dad's mad enough as it is that i'm spending all my earnings on audio hehehe. can i buy an amp to boost the output? how would i hook that thing up?

Just get a plate amp or something, and hook it up like you would any other driver...

Although adding power is the least effective (usually) way to boost output, power compression takes a toll on any added benefits of higher power.

i mean, how would i give the old sub the power of the plate amp? see what i mean? how do i physically add the power....would i go line in into the plate and out of the plate into the receiver?

resin the inside of the entire enclosure. forces all the air out the port, assuming you port it, and prevents all of the extra air from being pushed into the tiny divits of the wood.

worked well for me
