Increasing power handling?

K we know that if we supply too much power to a sub it will fry itself, and in some cases the rms rating given by manufacturers is high because the sub can handle excess heat, but not neccesarily have good enough suspension for the rating.. here's my idea:

What about hooking up a computer fan inside an enclosure so that you could turn it on to cool the sub while it was running? Say you took a type R 12, fixed some metal fins to it, and rigged up a fan to blow on it, think it could handle 1500 rms daily, or would the suspension give out?

wont work. its not the motor structure that overheats, its the voice coil and the sub moving in and out provides airflow over the coil. you arent going to get fins on the coil nor will the fan be able to blow air directly onto the coil.

Ok, well you know how mineral oil is non-conductive, well how about filling the enclosure up with mineral oil.. but not all the way to the top, leave air room so that the sub can still fire.

You want more power handling? put it in a small sealed box.

You could try water cooling a sub, make a water block that you could clamp around the motor. If you keep the motor cool it should also **** heat off the voice coil. The real problem is it's prolly not worth it.
