How in the heck do you increase dc voltage. I want to increase 5 vdc to 9 vdc, with at least 350ma of current, But I dont know wut ive got to to without buying anything. Iv got all I should need, and if I dont have it I have access to it. My electronics class hasnt gotten that far yet, and the book is not telling me anything.

What is the question word for word? What are all the parameters you have? What elements are you allowed to use to increase VDC?

Without the above, you aren't going to get any worthwhile answers. You didn't even list the initial current of the 5V signal.

What im doing is making a cell phone charger cord to run off the 5 vdc from the usb port. I have pretty much ANY element available to me, at school. and I dont know the initial current of the usb port cuz when I open the circuit and measure the full amperage, it shuts the comp down as saftey.

series wiring. you need another power source so if you have 5vdc then take a 4vdc powersource and wire it in series which will raise it to 9vdc.
I have one computer, one usb port, one serial port, and the power on those ports are in paralell, so wiring in series is not an option. And I want it to charge on just the computer power, not extrnal power.
