In dash dvd player playing when not in park

I'm lookin to get the Jensen 9510 and if i get it and dont connect it to the parking brake or whatever, does that mean the screen wont come out or it just wont play dvd's? also if someone can give me exact details of how to wire it so i can watch dvd's while driving, that would be cool, thanks.
