In-dash DVD Install???

Yeah simple for a competent individual, I guess? I got 6 different hands that have touched my car, and unnecessary wires that don't do shit. I have to locate which ones to use and not to use, tomorrow. First time purchasing a voltmeter, I'm green as hell:laugh:

Well it seems I found the culprit. Heres is the "disconnected" remote wire. Just needed a quick connect for the amps.

Oh and I'm sure you guys will get a //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif from this one. I bought my first voltmeter yesterday, and was wondering why every wire I touched showed no voltage. Well, I forgot to take the plastic tips off the voltmeter ends:laugh://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif I've got to be the most retarded individual trying to hookup a hu!

The grey harness is the plug in play aftermarket one. I ran new speaker wire to my door and rear deck lid speakers. Do I connect all the speaker wires in the aftermarket harness to the alpine harness (Black harnest in pic #2)and just run the rca's from the deck to the 4 channel?

Do I ground the plug and play harness (in pic #1, ground) to the alpine harness (seen in pick #2) Thinking once I plug the "plug in play" harness to the OEM harness in the vehicle it will ground the deck, or do I need to run another ground for the deck?

Bump for answer, thanks!

You can use the Black in grey harness to black in alpine, same for yellow, both yellows from gray harness go to yellow from alpine harness, Even tho there is a red wire in your gray harness there is NOT any switched power on the car side...So you have to run your own ACC lead...Did you get the radio to power up?? As for speakers, if you are using a 4-channel amp youd run all of your speaker leads from the speakers to the output of the 4ch amp and run the RCAs from the alpine deck to the RCA Inputs on ur 4ch amp....You would leave the speaker wires on the alpine harness capped off unless your going to use the alpine to power the speakers and not the 4ch amp, Not to sound like a D!ck but maybe you should find an install shop or prof help somewhere, sounds like u r just a little confused on wiring car stereo....

I know for sure I wired the hu and the "plug and play" harness correctly. Taking a closer look at the P&P harness and the OEM harness; There is no wire in the OEM harness to connect with the red wire "Control switch" for the P&P harness. I think I just might have the wrong harness:confused: Doesn't make since b/c it's the same harness I used for the Kenwood that was in there before. I metered the red wire in the P&P harness whiled plugged to the OEM harness w/the car on and no juice:crap:, and yes I took the caps off the meter this time:D. Any suggestions?

I ran my acc lead now I just connect that lead to the red wire of the P&P harness?

I should take it to a shop, but I'm not paying those MFer's 80.00 to do something I know I can do with a little coaching, btw thanks for the help bro. I'm going to connect the acc lead to the red wire in on the alpine hu you and see if that does the trick.

The only problem I have now is prior to reading your message about leaving the speaker wires capped I wired them all to the oem harness. should I unwire them or leave them. I already ran the speaker wire individually to each speaker and back to my 4 channel.

Well done wiring harnasses, cross your fingers.

clean out your inbox dude. And check your remote wire for your amp. Try this. Take a small piece of wire and touch it to your power wire on the amp and touch the other piece to the remote input on the amp. See if that would work. Be sure not to spark anything. Let me know if that works. Dont leave it like that though. Just want to see if that will do it. If so,then your remote is either not connected or the internal harness remote isnt working.

If you go into the settings and change backround there r actually some XXX wallpapers(my bad) on there too LOL I personally would cap off the speaker wires but it may not matter anyway
