Imprint and H701?

Does the H701 do most of what the inprint does? Can I run both together? Would i want to rin both together? what is the difference which is better?
The imprint and h701 are both very different features. As far as I know you can run the imprint software and use a h701 to tweak it. As far as would you want to run both, it depends. I'd personally say no, just becaus the h701 is hard to use for a beginner and you'll probably end up making it sound worse than just with the imprint. Imprint is basically idiot proof so you'll get good sound out of it.

My understanding is that imprint is a software similar to an RTA that automatically adjust your processing, and the H701 is the processor. You seem to be talking as if the imprint is a processor?

Imprint is a great unit if you want decent SQ quickly and you don't know/want to spend the time tunning. It does all the work for you and you don't have the option to choose anything (xover, TA,phase, etc) except for a "target curve" out of I think 2 options that alpine gives you.

The H701 is a totally diferent beast. It can also do an auto adjustment if you have the RUX controller and mic, but apparently it doesnt do a very good job. Basically what the H701 gives you is options, and lots of them. But you need to have experience to properly tune a system with it.

You can use both but I don't think it would be a good option. Why? To get the best SQ out of the H701 you need to use a deck with an optical output, the most used ones are the W200 and W205 that also make it easy to use the options on the H701 because of the touch screen. The imprint can only be used with the 9887 that doesn't have optical output, so you would need to plug the imprint module to the 9887 and also use the Ainet and RCas to plug to the H701. You will also need the RUX 701 to controll the H701, because the 9887 can't control it.

To sume it up, if you don't like/can't/won't tune your system get the Imprint. If you linke/can/will tune it, the H701 is your best option.
