Image Dynamics

I have had many different comps in the past and I have never heard any of them sound as clean and good as the ID's do. I am almost willing to bet that it was install error somewhere on the ones he did not like. They have out performed Polk's, CDTs, Kickers and a few others. The mid bass is great and the tweeters crisp and clear. I was so impressed by the Image Dynamics comps and IDQ's that I just ordered a ID Q1200.1 Amp to replace my Arc Audio KS 1000 with. If the Amp is even half as good as the speakers it will be well worth the money. I will take some pictures and post them when the amp comes in.
x2 that is what I asked him about the install.

Any other suggestions? The more I think about it, the more I think I'd just be happy with the IDs. But, I look and see the SPX PROs for a few dollars more and think I'd like to go with them. Again, I will go and listen to everything before I go and make a decision, I'm just lost right now. I jumped into the Focals I'm using and wish I didn't. They're great speakers, but not what I want, and I don't want to jump into something else and regret it too.
What music do you like?

If you like string music to stand out Memphis Sync s are nice but they WILL not get as loud as the IDs the tweeter is also more mellow.
Hmm... I'll check into them. Thanks.

EDIT: As far as a mellow tweeter, I like one that's a little brighter.

Well, I think I'm going to rule out a 6.5". I'm looking probably solely at the ID CXS52 or the Alpine SPX-13PRO for the price. I like the low end range of the Alpines, but I think the tweeters will more suit my needs on the IDs. Again, I'm going to have to go and take a listen to both sets, providing that both sets are on display at some stores around me.

Okay, it's between the SPX-13PRO set or the CXS52 set. I've called around today and it seems like no one has either on display for me to hear. I'm going to do the stupid, irresponsible thing and make my purchase based upon your votes. The reason I'm looking at the Alpines is because of their incredible frequency range. They go higher than any pratical purpose would ever require unless you're going to be doing oversampling to create harmonics for enhanced SQ with a Clarion 9255 (this is the only HU I can think of that could utilize that). The low range seems to be one of the best out of any 5.25" speaker. They are pretty close to my power range (I'm at 70 rms and these will take 80 rms). I'm afraid because I'm under the rating, I'll never get them to "come alive". The IDs look great, but the low end frequency response is not quite as good as the Alpines, but to every other respect they're better. They match my amp perfectly (100 watts @ 2 ohms). They're slightly more sensitive than the Alpines too, leading me to believe they'll be able to get a little louder. I'm looking for clarity along with volume. Votes?

Install will play a large portion of your desired response
Oh, I know. And I'm sure that my factory locations with 1/4" MDF as an adapter for the speaker will be perfect //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif How do you feel about foam baffles for behind the speakers? What about foam baffles stuffed with polyfill?

All i can tell you is with the older versions of the IDs and Memphis syncs they were very forgiving as far as bass output. V2 models of ID and the new black versions of the Syncs I am less familiar with but Eric usually puts out a product that is more than 1 dimensional as far as ID goes. Almost all of their subs are IB, sealed or ported and do very well in each application and their mids do well as long as the front is sealed from the back.

x2 that is what I asked him about the install.
Why, it has to be the install. Car audio is just too complicated for mere mortals. Otherwise, how could a discerning listener with a couple of decades of exposure to state of the art sound possibly determine that an overhyped speaker with quality pretensions sounds like undiluted doo-doo. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Guys, we all have varied reference points, and clearly we listen for different sonic determinate. It's foolish to assume that one's (sonic) outlook can be equally prorated onto others, especially when it's greatly limited in its scope.

I vote for you using your ears. Good luck.

why dont you guys lay off the dude? the ****ing guy heard some ID comps and thinks they **** balls, so what? is it so unbelievable that to his ears they ****? move on people.

you guys are saying the id comps are so good and then compare them to kicker or mb quart. this dude obviously messes around with more sq oriented speaker like seas, vifa, shit that isnt mainstream unless its happens to be rebadged.
