So after installing a set of XS component set for someone, I found out something interesting. The passive network doesn't do anything to the mids. It's basically just for the tweets. Most comps has a low pass filter for the mids, but these don't. The mids naturally roll off around 4-5khz.

The passive xover for these two sets are almost identical, except that the CXS v.2 compensates for the sensitivity difference between the mids.

So... I was thinking, the mids can hooked up to an amp alone w/o the tweets and all you need to do is use the amp's/HU's high pass filter for them and let the top end roll off on their own. Then, on two separate channels, the tweets can be hooked up to the passive xover, and it'll basically be like bi-amping the set. By doing so, you can separately adjust the levels between the mids and tweets, or you can bridge the mids and get more POWA to them.

Cool beans. I'd surely like to try the CX v.2 mids.

i had the oems running passive with about 75 watts to it and the tweet and....meh. then i ran them active with about 120 watts and these beasts came alive. Id imagine the cxs would be the same.

Bridging can help give MO POWA and most likely result in mad dBz. yo.

Maybe I should clarify that the sets I speak of are the 6.5" sets. I'm not sure about the other sizes.

My setup was set and completed before they came out, so I didn't research them and I stopped wh@ring their forum a while before that.

Oh yeah, I know Ill want to upgrade them I just dont know if Ill need to upgrade them. If a new amp that handles PCM gives me a noticeable improvement then Ill be able to wait for a while before upgrading speakers.

How powerfull is the midbass on these? I know it sounds idiotic to you SQ guys, but would they hang with a 3000 rms sub, that I probably play more around 2500 rms to? The XS set that is.
