2 separate subs. what i want. 12 inch fi btl for the spl oriented, then 12 inch idmax v3. switch for the on and off of the subs. so if i want to be heard, the btl will be on, max is off. if i feel like clean bass, then fi is off.

its something that i just thought of. i wanted to have clean bass for easy listening...but then , there are times when i jsut want to be lOUD!

Would it work? Yes, as long as they are in different airspaces and on different amps or different channels. Would anyone with any brains do it? No.

Just get a pair of 12 or 15" Qs or something comprable. This would be better for both ends of the spectrum, for several reasons.

1. Since they are the same sub, they can share an amp and airspace, making install much less complicated and much less ghetto.

2. Using the pair will be better for SPL, because you will have more motor strength and more surface area. This means that (with the same amount of power it would take to power one BTL) you will be able to move more air and get louder

3. The Q is a very capable SQ woofer. It's abilities will be in no way diminished by having a pair or having enough power to go full blast with them. Just turn down the gains or the bass setting on the HU when you want to go SQ. Plus, moving more air will allow you to play the lows with more authority.

Much more practical, simple, and it won't scream illegal immigrant.

And if you want to be REALLY flexible, build a box with swappable port sections. That way you can have high tuning for SPL, low tuning for daily driving/street beat/whatever, and sealed for strict SQ.

If you're skills aren't up to the task, I know for sure BJ from Fisher Customs can do it. He did this exact thing for at least one member on the forum. His prices are very reasonable too, especially for the materials he uses and the quality of his work. I just hope you have plenty of room to work with.

Yeah it will work, but look very dumb. What you want can be achieved with one woofer. I second the Fi Q Obviously. My 18" Q sounds great (to me anyway) and please believe it is loud enough to be heard.
