I'm stumped

Ok, I'm completely stumped and need help.

I have a 2002 mazda 626. I'm trying to install a pioneer deh-p3000ib. I bought a wiring harness, connected it to the factory harness. I've connected all the wires to the deck wiring harness, they were color coded. and the **** thing won't power up. I've figured out the yellow and red wires are for power, and tried redoing the wiring, won't work. I reconnected my old deck to see if that would power up, to figure out where my problem was and it powered up. now the only thing that makes sense to me is the ground. I have the deck's ground wire running through the wiring harness and not physically grounded. I figured the already connected ground for the old deck would work fine, correct? Please help!

So, I went and exchanged the deck, still doesn't work so the deck itself isn't faulty. Had all the connections checked with a voltometer. I'm totally lost.

Another common mistake is forgetting to disconnet the battery while installing the H/U. The fuse blows (or worse) while making the connections. Check the fuse. Use your meter to make sure you have power at the H/U. Know which is switched and which is constant. If you know the H/U works. And you know you have 12v and a good ground, then double check your wiring, 'cus your doing something wrong. The problem is you. Draw out a schematic with all the wires labled coming from the car and into the H/U. That may clear it up.

All the tip is saying, is crimp a male connector spade on your ground wire coming from the radio, and connect it to the female spade on the car.

It should be right in your dash along with the other harness. Reach in there and try and feel for it. If I remember right, it's sort of a braided cable.

Or you could just make your own ground.

so, I finally got it working. hooray. swapped the red and yellow wires on the wiring harness and I finally got power, but no sound. so, I said **** the wiring harness, cut that shit and wired it straight to the factory harness. viola! now I'm bumpin' two 7500's.
