i'm really having trouble deciding between 2 12" Obsidian D4's or 1 SA 15. i haven't really gotten any help or advice in which people would prefer, so i'm hoping this thread will clear it up. i never ran a 15 before, but i have run 12s so i'd like to hear peoples opinions before i go spending money!

thanks everyone!

how much power ya got is a good conciderations too. the 2 OA would need about 1500 watts but the sa 15 6 to 800
Those obsidians are very efficient and will get loud off little power, they don't need a lot to do their thing.

OP I've used the OA's and they are probably some of best bang for your buck subs on the market right now.

go to the 2 12s it will be louder. Ive ran both 2 12s and 1 15 for the 1 15 to be louder it needs to be on a lot more power and a way better of a sub. The oa and the sa are pretty similar.

I went from 1 15 fi btl tuned to 29 hz, to 2 12 american bass xfls tuned to 33hz, and the 15 got louder on the same power. i will be adding more soon tho and a new box. my 12s are in a 3.75 cu box after disp. and soon ill be going to a 5 cu box. the btl was in a 4 cu box and was a side port . xfls have a 8 inch aero port

This.

If you can make a proper box, the 2 12s should win all day/every day in every way. Louder, lower with authority, and longer lasting due to having 2x the VC to spread the heat caused by power.

I bet the 12s end up on top in the new box.

i'll be using one of these two boxes if it is for the 12's:

if it's a 15, my dimensions are 16" deep at narrowest point, 40" wide, and 22" high to the top of the rear seat (not including the headrests)

OK, so plenty of space. You should expect similar performance (provided you have a good box) out of either with an edge on power handling and impedance options if you get a pair of 12's.
