Hello, I'm getting my moms RSX for my 17th b-day //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif anyways my mother and I were speaking about the system because it is really horrible. I have budget of about 900:( but i don't want to change the HU. I want it to bee loud but also need SQ because i listen to reggae only so i need alot of bass.

The reason I don't want to change the stock HU is because I don't want people to know anything is in my car because Ill hang out in the hood.

wait wait wait... You're 17...your rents gave you an RSX and $900...

God...can't wait to see what you qualify as "hood."

I wouldn't worry about people knowing whats in your car. Just get a Headunit and be done with it (it's not unusual for people to have them...and I would guess that most kids that own a HU don't have subs.)

There are plenty of sub/amp combos that could be had in your price range, that it is crazy. If you want something that will impress your hood friends...go with a Jl 12W7 and a decent amp, with the JL box. Should fit in that price range. You won't be dissappointed...SPL and SQ will be good.

if you don't want to change the stock headunit you could always just run a LOC and then search for a sub/amp combo. For 900 dollars you could have a very nice sub/amp combo. How much space are you willing to sacrifice for this project?

lol u are a funny guy. But seriously I live in the BX and I usually chill in the South Bronx. My parents work hard to get me what i want aslong as i get good grades.
But anyhow I also need speakers was looking at boston pro60 but my mom crushed me with a budget so i started to look at the PG comps

I NEED TO BE HEARD

I want to pull up in front of someoneshouse and have them standing outside already because the heard me coming:cool:

dude you are talking about NOT wanting people to know yhou have something in there....then say "I NEED TO BE HEARD" "I want to pull up in front of someoneshouse and have them standing outside already because the heard me coming"

One or the other. If you are hanging out in ghetto's or hood, and you are bumping and letting everyone hear.... bye bye system.

WOW YOU ARE A F***ING MORON! "I don't want to get it stolen so I am going to keep the factory HU.... but I'm going to drive around town blaring my shit so everyone can hear it"... congratulations. How about you go buy some nice sony xplods and a 1200 watt pyle amp to go with it.

how can you not want anyone to know you have anything in there but then want to be heard???

Firstly, please don't contribute to giving car audio enthusiasts a bad name. They are cracking down on us everywhere because boomers drive around in residential areas with their systems on blast and annoy people. Be considerate that not everyone wants to hear your car from a block away, some of us need to study, work, and sleep to get on with our lives.

Secondly recognize that you can't have a system which is cheap, loud, and has good sound quality. If you want both loud and SQ, you need to spend some money. That would start with a new head unit. Think about it: what part of your system is actually playing the music? Even the best sub and amp are not going to sound good without a quality signal going to them. And as others have said, if you drive around blaring your system, people are going to know you have it.

That said, if you want to get loud and sound okay, the PG RSD comps are a good starting point. You'll need an amp that puts out at least 50 watts RMS x 2 to power them. Then when you have that sounding good look into some subs. If you buy stuff used you can get a much better value for your money.
