peal n seal will stick and stay stuck no matter the temperature if u heat it up and roll it with a sprocket roller. it would never come off
That is like saying that you can glue ice to a wall, as long as you heat it up first...
The only difference is that Ice melts/liquefies at 32 degrees f. and asphalt does the same at 180 degrees f.
Asphalt is non-curing. Just like water.
It can go from a liquid state to solid to a liquid state countless times until all the volatiles evaporate or work out through osmosis.
Then, once the volatiles are gone, so is the adhesion and the elasticity of the product. And you are left with a brittle mess. Just like mixing some corn meal in to some ice. Freeze, thaw, freeze thaw.. Heat the water up enough and it becomes a gas. AS the steam escapes, eventually you are left with nothing more than the cornmeal filler, and in the case of the asphalt, you are left with nothing more than the filler and additives the roofing companies add to the asphalt to cheapen it up.
Heating the asphalt up does nothing but slightly melt it. That’s why it gets stickier when hot.
But once the material heats up again, wheat do you think happens?
Yup, it melts again.
Heating it up the first time, is not some magical sort of secret method that locks the flash point and viscosity in place forever.
Regardless, asphalt will always, always melt at 180 degrees F.
