**** im ****in pissed

the wiring kit said it could handle 1500 watts, brand audiopipe... piece of shit, nobody ever buy this junk. thatd b sum shit if it melted, lol, cant wait to see, itll hafta be tomorrow tho cus im dead *** tired. really hopin the amp aint ****ed up, well see... thanks

Although 8 ga isn't the best size to use.....i seriously doubt that the size of the wire is the problem here....if no lights come on AT ALL, i would check your remote/turn on wire(12v signal). The protection light would come on if ur remote wire was ok, even if something was wrong with your power wire.

will do.... if there isnt anything physically wrong with the cable itself, could it be that it messed up the head unit remote cable? so the protection light can come on with only the remote working... hmmm, gatta lot of stuff to check, thanks

I hate to be the one to say it but......8 gauge wire isn't going to burn up your amp!!!!!! How big is the fuse by your battery? What kind of car is this in? Just asking because I doubt your alternator would even produce enough amperage to melt an 8 ga. wire. If you pulled the amp out and tried another in its place and it worked......your amp is fuked

You blew a fuse, lets try not to forget that is KEY in tracking down went wrong. Use backwards logic to try to track down what happened. If a fuse blows, its because too many amps are trying to pass through it. Your next step is determining why that was happening-i.e was the fuse just too small(very likely since the amp kit you bought only had 8awg wire) i have a test tomorrow but work off why it stopped working in the first place.

ive ran 8 gauge with 1200rms amps all day with no probs besides the amp getting a little warm from not enough current and trying to hard. But yea i dont think ur amp likes 1ohms, this just happend to my pioneer amp, nothin comes on, so i sent it back and there giving me a new one

ya, thanks to everyone that tryna help out... well, today i ran another battery wire from the battery to the amp, hooked up the remote, and the ground, and the mother****in protection red light comes on.... ****. so ya the amps prolly ****ed up, there goes a good 120 bucks... anyways, do any of you know what couldve caused this? could it have been the wire not bein thick enough.... the fuse on the wire by the battery, not being capable enough.... maybe bad wiring... although i tripple checked the wires on the subs, and they are wired to 1 ohm, used the wiring guide on this messaged board... or turning it too loud... cus the song i was playin at the time had a part (it was a bass test cd) and it was hit after hit after hit of lowww *** rattlin bass, then no bass at all.....

oh ya forgot to mention... the fuse by the battery, it was not only burnt, but all bent and shit liek i had jus put californias electricity thru that *****, but nah, no melting happened...

ps, ya for the person that asked, jus looked it up, and my car (95 infiniti g20) uses an 80amp mitsubishi (brand) alternator... thanks again

Ok, lemme get this straight.... If I turn it up too loud, and the fuse blows, on the wire and not the amp.... By the way the amp went into protection mode after this.... Is it the wire that's not thick enough? Is it the fuse not being strong enough? Or the amp? ........ Cus I sent the amp back and gettin it replaced, so I wanna kno if I should get the 4 gauge wire, or if the problem isn't the wire at all... If the wire is not the problem, should I still buy the 4 gauge? Thanks for all your help

I would get 4 gague either way. You really need it. Not having 4 gague wire could have helped in the breaking of the amp, but may have not been the cause.

I broke an American Bass CX1200D and the shop I took it to said that the reason it broke was from the 8 gague wire i had on it. The reason they gave me is that if the amp sees less than 10 volts, it will break. I don't know if that is true but after a $200 repair bill, I didn't want to try again.

Running less than 4 gague wire might cause a slight voltage drop. Maybe along with other factors it is just enough to break the amp. Make sure you have a good ground and make sure that your charging system is upto par. If it isn't then you can drain your battery right out if you run the system to hard for too long and that will make the amp see less than 10 volts for sure, If that store is right, then the amp would be busted.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

thanks, yeah, now im definatly gonna wire with 4 gauge cables. just sent the amp back today, im getting it replaced. hopefully this time it wont do the same thing... dunno if i can talk my way into getting it replaced one more time...

my alternator is 80 amps, is this enough for this amplifier (tsunami 1000d) 1000wattsx1 at 1 ohm, and a kicker 150.2 72wattsx2 rms at 2 ohm ?
