if you dont mind me asking, how old is your "wife"?
and i believe reading you are 27, or so correct? i just want to know so i can see the general demographic of people buying houses and saving.

im just getting a general consensus here, and am thinking about the same questions, but me and my gf are only 21 almost 22, but are looking into some investment opportunities as well.

We are both 23.

She is managing an upscale tanning salon, and I am finishing up school.

I took a few years off and worked full time to build up a savings account before I met her, so I was already pretty sound, financially.

My father is a Financial Advisor, and has been pretty much my whole life... so I've got some good habits instilled in me over the years. I'm also blessed in other ways, as I inherited a pretty large sum of money at 21 that I invested instead of spent (as my friends urged me to do...)

Keep in mind you don't need 20% down as a rule, you just don't have to pay PMI.
Also watch the new Econ Stimulus bill as it includes $15k for new-home purchases. The current $7500 must be repaid, but Osama Yomomma et al wants to just give it to you (pending qualification, I'm sure).

My goal was 20% just for equity purposes. It was more of a goal than a guideline.

I have been keeping an eye on that as well... that would be a nice boost, but I am not betting on it. I'm sure by the time it may or may not come to pass, I will have already purchased. If it backtracks to the beginning of the year, then that would be outstanding.

I ask these types of questions to get a general idea of who actually has a clue, and who is going to be working until the day they die. Purely hypothetical.

Because I can go after you for being 34, and typing like many of the 16-20somethings on here simply because it entertains you, but in reality, not too many guys in there 30s would be caught dead as much as you are on the internet, much less a car audio forum. Even less would admit to typing in such a manner than you do. Trying to reinvent yourself on the internet is nothing new, but please, act your age and maturity level. You're obviously an intelligent individual... why must you participate in the fashion that you choose?

I spend less and less time on here, partly because my tastes are changing, and partly because of the lack of interest in sifting through pages and pages of junk to find something useful.

Had I not asked the question, I wouldn't have known that DevilDriver was a pretty knowledgeable guy, as well as several other posters who I wouldn't have generally pinned down to 'knowing their stuff.' It's nice to know that some people are into other things as well, other than auto styling and sound.
