im guessing its port noise?

i have two polk audio mm1040 10" subs. i built a 2.3 cubic foot box tuned to 32hz slot ported box.

according to my calculations it has 31.5 port area.

i looked at the SSA box designs and for a dual ported box for two ssa dcon 10s, they have 28.125 port area.

polk recommended a box that has 27 port area.

on 99.9% of my music its fine as i dont listen to rap, but if i play late night tip, its making some noise for some reason.

its only my second ported box, so nothing is rounded or anything like that, is that the problem? i need, or should have rounded the inside of the ports to just have cleaner flow?

like i said its not really a big problem as the music i listen to does not even get close to doing it, but still would like to know for the future.

Does it only do to that song or other songs too?

Could be bad music file, I know that song sounds a little goofy anyway though.

port is 12" high, 2 5/8" wide.

the song's bit rate is 128, perhaps that is a problem as all my other music is 320kbps. good thinking, hope its that and not my box. ill have to listen to bass i love you, as the copy i have is also 128kbps, see if it does it as well.

you should have enough port area, but rounding does help

the volume is after sub displacement correct?

It very well could be mechanical noise. They will take less power in a ported box

ok what seems to be missed is at what time does it makes this noise? what note? the lowest note?

btw should not be port noise.

its 2.3 cubic feet before displacement. though they are pretty shallow subs, so they probably have very low displacement. polk recommends 2 cubic feet(no idea before or after) either way should be big enough.

i am overpowering them, they are rated for 350 each, and im giving about 435 each, but i somehow think thats not the problem, but very well could be. i would think my heavy metal has some low notes just as well as late night tip, if it was mechanical wouldnt it do the same on those?

i thought i had enough port area.

ill have to try and find different songs to try, but dont have the 2 suggested and dont really want to dl a program just to dl a song or 2.
