All my life i've been a wimp and a ******.. I'm tall and skinny..

Now it's not only hurting my *** life and self esteem but I think it's going to kill me.

I am on a computer 24/7, I smoke weed 24/7 and I like to eat crappy foods 24/7.

I have mild back pain and generally feel weak.. I'd like to get my blood circulation up and do things to make myself stronger in case something bad happens it might be easier for me to recover.

So now that I have the coin I decided it's time to change all that with a professional trainer.

The reason for the trainer is because I have no idea what to do and don't want to hurt myself or waste time.

Anyone else go from couch potato to fitness junky?

Curious because I likely have the same build. Im gonna assume you are skinny. Lemme tell you that you can definitely put on muscle as long as you work real hard. Im 6'3 and weighed about the same before I started working out. Im now at 170 after 3 years of working out off and on. I peaked at 180 after I completed p90x. But I stopped working out because of my job and now Im back to 170.

Its fun being skinny because people wont think you are strong until you flex. Not like our muslces will be hidden by fat or anything.

if your 6' 3" and 170, you're not strong. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

whats more fun is not having to flex for people to think you're strong.

you dont need to throw your money at some talking head so they can have you do all these bullshit exercises that dont do jack for gaining mass or strength. Squat monday, bench wednesday, and deadlift on friday. look up some accessory lifts for those and you will be set. keep eating the same food, but add more protein. calories are your friend. gets lots of rest. eat lift sleep eat lift sleep.

X2. Nutrition is just as if not more important than the shit you do in the gym. If your tall and skinny a.k.a. ectomorph, you need to take in a lot of calories. Eat two grams of protein for every pound you weigh per day.

Legs, Back and Chest seperate the men from the boys, so at first just stick to the aforementioned exercises and rotation. Three sets of ten reps: Do one warm up set at %60 your max weight for 10 reps, then two at your 10 rep max.

Go at that for a month then add s'more exercises.

Purchase the book "Starting Strength".

Learn the lifts, and get too it.

Eat right and follow this beginner program and you should see great results.

Its basically the core fundamental lifts. Squat, deadlift, chest press, shoulder press, power clean.

3 days a week. DO IT

Go to bodybuilding.com and read up on the forums there. You might have different goals then what some of the people in this thread are working on. I personally do 12, 10, 8, and 6 reps increasing weight each time til I max. If I were you I'd definately use a trainer for a little bit, mainly for motivational purposes and to find you're way around the machines. Protein and a lot of healthy eating will be a good start, then later you can jump to the other supplements.

great forum. If you wan't to add mass, there's no secret to it. You just have to be in a calorie surplus and workout regularly. Take your target weight, multiply by 10, and then add about 500. So if you want to weight 180, 180x10 = 1800 + 500 = 2300. You'd want to aim for consuming about 2300 calories a day.
