i got the impression that getting a better battery, like an optima, would help my dimming problem, so i bought one. $140 later, feels the same as before, actually, it is the same as before. i have an epic 160, it displays voltage, and it looks as though the voltage is the same.

did i make a mistake getting this battery, or is it a crucial part of an audio system?

my "big three" are upgraded, and i'm getting 1/0 gauge power and ground installed next week probably, i was thinking, if it was cheap, to get my alt rewound, but my local shop owner thinks that i should just get a cap, he said that the new rockford 40 farad cap is something i should think of. 40 farads? holy crap thats a lot, i'm not running 5000watts, is this something i can even benefit from, or is it straight overkill?

i'm just a little upset that the optima wasn't what i thought it was, but thats probably because i dont know what the hell i was thinking when i got it.

you could buy the biggest batery in the world but if your alternator doesnt charge it wont make a difference if u bought a really cheap battery.

It seems to me that most people stay away from capacitors

SO i wouldnt buy one.upgrade your alternator is my suggestion.The only thing that could possible hurt is the thickness of your wallet

And how much does this "cap" cost??? I think your shop guy is just trying to get a nice chunk of change out of you. Get the alternator.

Alternator=Better and lasts longer, so i've heard, could be incorrect.

Na, You need an alt all that other stuff is practicly useless if it doesnt have a good alt to keep it charged.

The rewound alt. is the way to go. Usually about $1/a. If your alt can't hold up now, how would it charge a cap? Adding additional batteries and caps just weakens your already struggling alt.
