Hey, I'm completely new to all of this except for when I helped my friend sand his box once......I am gettin a Ford Ranger XLT which means there's NO or hardly ANY room behind the seats for anything...any ideas? I AM going to be gettin a bed cover for it though so....yea. Thanks for any help you guys can give.

You can squeeze a box in behind the seats. Fiberglass or just plain old MDF, you can get some airspace from back there.

You can do a cut-through ... where you cut the back wall of the cab out and have the box in the bed with the subs firing into the cab. Most people aren't willing to do that, however.

There are plenty of regular cab mini trucks with installs behind the seats. There are a few guys on this board that should land you some ideas. Also, browse http://www.sounddomain.com/member_pages .

Yea...I didn't want to do a cut through, thanks for the help. I think we can get a box back there. Just not a really big one, hehe. Thanks man, and hopefully I'll have pics up when I'm done with it. One of my friends makes custom boxes. I'll get him to make it for me. He had two 10's and was beating guys with 12's because of his box.

Seems like you have some idea of what's going on already ... nice to see //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Quality subs with a shallow mounting depth are fairly easy to come across these days.

Oh, another option is to get bucket seats and do a custom center console with the subs mounted there. Not a lot of people have those, mainly because they want the extra seat and it takes up a fair amount of room. Not to mention you having to buy the seats.

Thanks....now for a headunit question...this is for cd/mp3 head unit.

Should I get a Panasonic or Pioneer? I heard that both were very good.

I also heard that sony wasn't very good. I'd just like to know which would give me the best performance from a head unit.

I like my panasonic, my friend had an alpine that was a bit nicer (nice on his how you could browse the songs).

An idea for subs, i really like my RE8s, shallow mounting, don't require a lot of power, but sound really good, and small enclosures (.25cube sealed, .5 vented is whats reccomended)

go for a Alpine...u wont regret it, but panasonic makes some good decks too
Yep, you wouldn't be dissapointed with either.

Oh, and NegativeEffect ... love the truck man //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bowdown.gif.b85b23b82970bd22fb6b549c3392f016.gif

Original poster ... four RE 8's for ~$200 would be stellar in your truck. Just an idea of course.

Savage,

i have a Ranger also. Little **** thing. I am 6'2" and I did put buckets in it. So I needed all the room I could get. The drivers side is pushed ALL the way back and the passager is pushed all the way forward, looks a little odd but I am the only one in it 95% of the time. I built a MDF and fiberglass enclosure for 2 10" Comp VRs, behind seats. Then under the dash I hid 2 RBM6's and on the front dash (in factory locations) I put 2 RMB4's. The amps are installed on top of cab with the headliner cut around them. My sub amp is RF501bd and the surround is a Jensen 600w 4ch. I had to custom build a faceplate for the Pioneer HU MP3. I got a Legacy 12 band eq installed. I did have some trouble with the HU and EQ heating each other and put a small fan in behind them, no longer have heating problems.

Just to let you know that what possibilities are out there for us the have small cab pickups.

haha thanks, hopefully by the 15th it will be sounding just as good as it looks..

anyway back on topic. from what i HEAR from people eclipse is a pretty good deck..i have no personal exp. with them but on the other hand where i live no one sells them and i asked one dealer that said they are cheaply made...now im not here to start a fight just convaying what one guy who sells this stuff told me...other than that ppl who own them seem to be happy with them

Thanks guys. Here's something that I"d like your opinion on. The truck's gonna be yellow, but the bed cover can be yellow like the truck or black. I was thinkin of putting the "euro" style taillights on the truck. Silver if the cover is yellow but black if the cover is black. What do you guys think? (about what color for the bed cover)

Contrary to previous posts...the truck is staying black with a tan trim.

(Yea, it sucks). Any ideas of what to do with that???
