I'd prob do a HO Alt vs another battery. Yellowtops arent needed unless you're really doing deep cycles

with an isolator, no, i'd be more worried bout having 2 batteries and no isolator though, because soon as you turn the car off, the lesser charged of the 2 batteries will drain the other until they equal out, plus a yellow top isn't something i'd recomend for a daily driver as the main battery, they aren't ment to be used like that, matter fact, you'd be better off adding a normal battery as a second in most instances, because yellow tops require trickle charging for a proper charge.[/QUOTE]

Myth. I've been used many different yellow tops... at different times in my truck. They work fantastic as a starting battery, and it never harmed them. All of them have STILL sat at ~12.9 after months and months of use.

Do a deep cycle (such as yellow top) and under hood.

Add the following wires using 1/0

-Alt. + lead to battery + post

-Batt neg. post to chassis ground

-Batt neg. post to engine block ground

no not nessicerily, its just not practicle for a daily driver.

quickie question, never really owned one myself, just know of plenty goin dead, but whats the honest life span of an optima?

Seen all sorts of Optimas die and have personally had 3 red tops and 1 yellow bite the big one over the years. Presently recommending Exide Orbital Purple Haze batteries and have yet to have one fail......
