Potato cannons are fun, I used to have a pneumatic one that we hooked up to a pancake compressor...electric solenoid on the chamber, so all you'd need to do was aim, check the pressure, and trip the valve. The last potato gun I made was composed of a pvc pipe, a lighter, some sealant, and I think hairspray. I was in the 7th grade, though.

Sodium is fun stuff, in chem in highschool we acutally had contest who could get a small bomb to blow proejcitles the longest distance. Cool stuff...

It really was, my teacher was a nutcase, but a genius. We ended up covering almost double the material of the rest of the classes, but we did a lot of relatively cool sutff.
