If you want to stick with "well-known" brands, then you'll be buying a brand name, and lower quality than that of the "unknown" quality brands.

Sundown amps are some of the nicest amps around:fyi: Do a search...

Hifonics is better known than Sundown? Do some reading up on this forum. You will see a lot of people running those Sundown amps and loving them. They seem to get loud, and you can probably find one on here for a descent price.

What part are you asking about? 1000W or RMS or 4Ohms?

Just consider this, your a noob, therefore you don't know all there is to know. For the most part, you know what you read in mags and see at best buy. Have you ever herd of Fi, RE, DD... They are all brands you typically will not see in you typical Big Box chain. You find them in small shops and on the net. They are all far better than any thing you can get at a chain store.

You don't have to take my word for it, use the search button;)

welcome and good luck

fvkin n00bzor.
go buy a kenwood amp, since they are more know, they must be better:rolleyes:

fawking n00b.
Grow up seriously. He doesn't know what is what and already said that. Why not add some value rather than rambling.

To the OP. Although not well known in major stores, sundown has a very good rep with the online community. Solid amps, perform well and the owner, designer (whatever the hell else Jacob is doing these days LOL) is on the forums often giving advice and updates. There are TONS of amps that will give you more bang for the buck and more than likely offer you better warranties than the name brand stuff you will pick up at the store.

More importantly, look and listen to as many amps as you can. Getting the power and ohm specification is the easy part. Finding the amp that meets your personal taste for appearance (if you have any) extra features and such will be a bit more difficult (not to mention price range). In the end I think you will find that really the most important part is install. Install install install. You can use all Audison and Hertz and if you go with pre-fab, crap install, you still end up with a crap system.

Welcome to the forum as well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wave.gif.002382ce7d7c19757ab945cc69819de1.gif

this man speaks the truth.

there is a wealth of knowledge here, you just have to look over and around some of the *****

@BIGsherm7272 -Good job ****. you restated the obvious. im a noob. go drink bleach you post whoring dumb****.

thank you kmanian and the others for actually being useful and helping. As to what i meant is how does the 4 vs 2 ohm correlate to powering up the subwoofers. i know rms is the number to actually look for. yes i do care about appearance as this is going for a show car.

to keep it simple, if you run 2 4ohm subs in par. you will get a final load of 2 ohms, if you run them in series you will get 8 ohms, typically you will only get a quarter if the power at 8 ohms as you will at 2. That is ver crude but hopefully you will get some understanding.

So with that being said you usually want to get an amp that is matched to the total of the final load the amp will see.

Also don't be jaded by the max power brand name subs show, usually they are way over rated.
