Hi everyone, I just installed a new radio in my car with an aux jack so I can pipe my ipod through the car radio. The install went fine and everything seems to work perfectly except for the fact that when I turn the car off the radio does not turn off, I have to switch the radio off manually. While this isn't a show stopper, one day I know I'm gonna forget to turn off the radio and I will have my battery drained.
The wiring was relatively straight forward, all four speakers work just fine. In the JVC installation instructions is says to connect red and yellow wires to the two power wires. The red wire goes with the side that has the Ignition switch and the Yellow wire goes to the side that is the live wire (by-passing the ignition switch). The problem I have is it appears that the car wiring (Red/Black tracer) has both sides live even when the ignition switch is turned off. The old radio did go on and off with the ignition so I know the car is capable of this.
I've attached both the installation instructions and the car radio connector wiring diagram. If anyone might give me some suggestions as to what I've done wrong I certainly would appreciate it. Thanks again in advance.
I noticed that when I uploaded those diagrams the Car Audio Forum shrunk them down, so I posted them on my website...
