Yes, and no. During his rise to power, Hitler actually blamed socialism and marxism for much of Germany's problems (there by creating the societal anger that lead to his surge to power), as well as capitalism. But in reality, it was simply him blaming anyone he could, just to rile up the population. I say this because once his Nazi party (and he himself) took over power of the govt, they increased the govt's role in their economy greatly (a move towards socialism), but the population (workers) did NOT have any real power in their own govt (NOT socialism). Hitler did proclaim he was building a socialist society tho, mostly (imo) to mask his own personal desire for power as the supreme leader. Hitler's Germany has aspects of socialism/communism in it, totalitarianism, and even a simple monarchy. That bitch seemed to just make **** as he went, whatever worked out best for numero uno.

edit: Nazism is referred to as "national socialism" tho. Its a grossly oversimplified description however, with political/propaganda themed undertones.

The Patriot Act was originally passed, back in 2001, by an almost unanimous vote, by both parties. With both sides posturing to look like the most 'patriotic' party at the time. Even in the 2006 renewal, something like a 1/3 of the Dems in the house voted for it (dont remember senate votes). So if you are against the Patriot Act, there's plenty of blame to go round.
