The reason the USA keeps shipping lanes open, is so they will be able to get products brought in, because they manufacture virtually fack all anymore. They hire it out to the lowest bidder, who also happens to be who they are very indebted to. It would be extremely easy to destroy the USA. Cut off the imported products.
Without Canada the US would be screwed as well. We supply a vast amount of power, and fresh water to the US. The US cannot support its people on what it has for fresh water supplies. It has to import water for it's people.

And we don't count on everyone else to keep us safe. People from all over the world live here. Other countries know this. Their friends and family live here. They protect their own, and by doing so, they protect Canada.
Also there have been numerous times in history where the US military has failed, then Canadians came in and succeeded. Never in my entire life have I heard of a time where the Canadians failed and had to have Americans come in to do the job.
