If you push the cone of a sub down..

yeah pushing, etc. down on the cone in the first place is bad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Yeah i was just taking it out of the box, and kind of pushed down on the cone, heard a weird grind, so i just did it again and its like grinding.. so its blown? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

I did that before and someone told me that you are rubbing the cone on the voice coil or something and it is terribly bad for the sub.

It only happened on mine when i pushed down on one side only. If i pushed down on both sides evenly it wouldnt do the noise.

How is it bad? J/W not trying to argue, I have always wondered (sp) if it was bad or not

You can easily damage the soft parts/motor if you are not careful.

And it could possibly be that you are pushing at an akward angle and the former is not traveling down the cylinder in a straight line, causing something to rub. If you have to push, ensure you are pushing STRAIGHT down. If you still encounter the grinding, then something is wrong.
