All I have to say is.... I can relate running a bunch of Eminence speakers to owning a loud sub-stage.

A lot of people frown on our sub stages, just as many here frown on his speaker setup. Each to his own I say!

The same goes for lifting cars, dropping trucks, etc.

I hope that most of the PA speaker car installs don't sound like O2 Audio's demo ride at NOPI Nationals last year... that was the most godawful sounding thing I've ever heard... but it was loud at least. Maybe it was a crossover issue... I don't really know... but it was the terrible.

Whats your concept? A multitude of subwoofers are ok because the frequencies they are reproducing bend around the objects that get in their path because the wavelength of sound is longer than the object. If the wavelength of sound is smaller than the surface than it will reflect...which translates to an incredible amount of reflections in your car creating thousands of micro nodes. We are much less sensitive to distortion in the lower octaves (-50dB at 40hz vs 4khz). We also have an incredibly difficult time observing the transient response of woofers, because the rise and fall time is several orders of magnitude smaller than signal compared to higher up in frequency when the rise and fall time of midranges/tweeters is longer than the actual frequency its reproducing. Your solution is a poorly engineered and designed concept that isnt very efficient at getting loud because of phase cancellation.

You spend an extortionate amount of money on a system that sounds like shit and performs considerably less compared to a well engineered and designed system that uses budget drivers...I'd consider that a mistake and im sure most on here would agree with me.

Hmmm...ahaha wow you crack me up. Do you even know what distortion really is? Number one we have linear distortion which refers to the transient response of the system as a whole and corresponds to the frequency response, of which yours possesses an inordinate amount of micro nodes that exist within a few inches of themselves. We also have non-linear distortion which refers to generated frequencies that weren't intended to be reproduced.
Your design is going to produce a roller coaster frequency response and an absurd time domain (ie transient response) which is in itself a tremendous amount of distortion.

I havent read far enough in the thread to objectively criticize your system in regards to non-linear distortion. I would need to know how/where your crossovers are, what crossovers you were using, the enclosures your drivers were in, etc etc etc. With all that said, I would put $100 down right now that your system is producing large levels of 2nd order harmonics and possibly 3rd order harmonics.

Here is the actual definition of distortion.

1. An aberration or change in the waveform of a signal.

2. A consequence of such a change, especially a lack of fidelity in reception or reproduction.

This will go WAY over his head. WAY over.

If you are going to argue with me...then at least produce an argument of why it doesnt sound like shit, also keep in mind that subjective responses are not considered valid. I supported my argument with evidence and several objective reasons on why it is so. I expect you to do the same.
