K I'm setting a budget between $800-1000 for the whole job I want to replace my 6.5 coaxs and upgrade. I'm gonna need a combination of a set of comp's, 2 Channel Amp and a lil bit left over for instal. I want quality of sound not harsh, crisp tweeters so silk domes would be preferable. If you can give me an idea that would get me in and out of the door while maintaining my budget or even less that would get great... thanks in advance...

WOW, $1000 for a set of comps and an amp? you can definitely get some great stuff! As for me, i would most likely go with CDT HD-62CF the High Definition carbon fiber comps...they're on sale for $300. And to power them i'd go with a u.s. acoustics 2150 for $163...that would be a great setup for much under budget! OR, if you want some of the best they can offer...you could go with the CDT eurosports $700 and the 2150. BUT, for me...hell i'd be happy enough with the HD's. good luck, peace

edit: btw the website is http://www.thezeb.com

NG

p.s.- u can save a ton of money by installing yourself! we can walk ya through it...plus you'll appreciate it and be even more amazed since ya did it urself.

I would recommend some Dyne Components, top of the linve, very very nice stuff.

for amps, you could get US acousticw wich would work fine, or theres the new Kicker SX Amps, Crossfire, Alpine,JL...i recomend either the US acoustics, crossfire, or the Kicker

I have heard alot of good things about CDT. I see on the zeb they have three different lines of components on sale. The Cl's for 149, the Hd's for 299, and the Euro's for 729. Out of the three obviously the quality will go up from each price level but does any of the three stand out as a great value for the money(i.e. would the Hd's for 299 be that much of a better speacher than the Cl's for 149. I know I said my budget was around a grand but if I could get away sounding good for the $149 Cl's than i could use that money toward better subs.

I believe the Euro line from cdt took a big price drop (msrp) this year......so I think alot of places are selling 6.5" euro sets for $450 (i think i saw this at thezeb aswell ;p)

So thats a good way to drop half a K. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif . As for an amp......don't go cheap with nice speakers like this. Be prepared to shell out $400-$600 on a nice 2 channel amp. But Its definetly worth the money if done right.

Also look in mb quarts or focals.

ehhhhhh 400-600 dollars on a nice 2 channel amp WTF. :stuck:

Us acoustics amp will be perfect for any set of components. Any other decent 2 channel amp will be fine for components.

Id look into Focal Utopias. They can be had for under 500 bucks and theyr supose to be as good as eurosports. http://www.purecaraudio.com has em and ebay has em. for under 500

Buying nice speakers and then powering them with a mediocre amp kind of defiies the purpose of spending the money on the speakers in the first place.

And if you have Euro sports and are powering them with a Us acoustics amp...then someone should...... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif

i aint gona start a arguement and jack the guys thread but u wont notice a difference between a us acoustics and a zapco. but its kool if u wana belive that then im not gona tell u ur wrong.

And u could get a 2 chanel Pheonix Gold amp for under 200 bucks. so spending 400-600 on a 2 channel amp is overdoing it.

ok guys I'm pretty much sold on the CDT HD's from the Zeb. I'm not familiar with them would everybody recommend buying from them, are they honest and sell you new stuff rather than referbs. I'm also looking at the US Accoustics 2150 for $162.00 and the Phoenix Gold Tantrum 300.2 for $209.00. The US looks like a better deal for the $ but Phoenix has a strong rep, I'm kinda split. They don't list the THD for the Phoenix and it seems like from the specs that the US will give out alot more power. Anybody have a preference between the two or maybe some idea of which one I should choose.

Oh I figured since I probably would be happy with the HDs I'll save the extra $400+ and put it into upgrading my amp for my subs.

I would look into some of the Morel speakers as well. The make some very nice components. The Renaissance 8.3 is a REAL nice system... and I happen to own it too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

id go with the phoenix gold amp. They make really solid amps. good stuff. either way its gona be an awesome setup of speakers

Anybody have any experience with swiss audio amps. I was looking at one of theirs off purecaraudio.com it's rated at 200x2@4. I was wondering if those HD's would handle the power this amp would throw at it if the amp was underated.

Pay the mortgage for the month, or my business insurance...pay 4 months of my car payment....lots of stuff I would "buy" with an extra grand.
Yup...there's a lot of things I'd need to spend that grand on if you just handed it to me tomorrow (heh heh...ironically, weekly payday is tomorrow and it will be about a grand //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif)
But if you put a gun to my head, handed me $1000 and forced me to spend it on front speakers and an amp, here's where it would go:

$130 - Kickpanels

http://www.sounddomain.com/shoplist~b~Q-Logic~t~Kick+Panel+Enclosures

$282 Seas Excel 6.5" x 2

http://www.madisound.com/seas.html

$53 Seas 27TFFC x 2

http://www.madisound.com/seas.html

$235 Clarion APX401.2

http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/CLAAPX4012

$155 Clarion APX201.2

http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/CLAAPX2012

$36 Knu Konceptz Complete 8 Gauge Amplifier Installation Kit x 2

http://www.knukonceptz.com/detail.asp?product_id=KOLAK8

$6 Knu Konceptz BC-1428 Kompression Fuse Distribution Block

http://www.knukonceptz.com/detail.asp?product_id=BC-1428

And you'd be $897 out the door...and wow, what a system you'd have //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
