If i lean forward, my bass is much louder, why?

up by the steering wheel, it hurts my ears, but sittiing in my seat, it's nowhere near as loud.

i'm interested in why, but more than that, can anything be done to move this "sweet spot" back to where my head is?

yes, dbfan187 is correct. The lower the frequency, the longer it takes for the wave to "develop". Most of the kids driving around blaring their Xplod subs in their non-sound-deadened Civics are actually making more noise behind the hatch than they are inside the car.

well to them it makes sense, but that's cuz they do things in Canadian math. But obviously our American math differ so greatly that it does not make sense to any of us, or the world for that matter

that's what i thought the first time i noticed it, but i made sure not to fart the next couple times i tried it.

so there's no way to change this? i can't really move the subs around much, there's not much room in the trunk to have anything make too much of a difference.

cuz ur dash is like a trap for standing waves and they are louder in that area, same for my car.

get a reflective shield so that the bass will bounce off that and into ur face
