IDQ-12 sealed or ib

i just picked up a idq-12 from ebay for $39 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

and it is going in my mom's car so i was wondering which would be best.

ported is not an option because the box she has now (1 cube ported with an infinity ref 10) is too big for her liking.

there is already an opening in the rear deck of her car (96 impala) so we could probably mount it there.

or throw it in a sealed box and call it good.

it will be recieving 250-350 watts.

thanks,

ib if you can do it. i would try to put it in the rear deck man, just needs a little support from some MDF for a baffle and you are basically done //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

got pics of the car?

not at the moment but i can try to get some tomorrow.

and like you suggest i am leaning towards ib, especially with the power we have to use.

i dont even know what coil config it has. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif dual something, not sure which

but it doesnt matter for the price i will make it work.

now i just gotta convince her that this sub will stomp a mudhole in the infinity. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

well i finally got the sub in after 2 weeks of waiting (F*** usps)

and i almost want to beat the selller with a lead pipe because he put it in a box that was a little bigger than the sub without using any packing material //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

the box was pretty beat to hell but the sub seemed to be intact.

although there it a spot on the edge of the dustcap where it might be unglued from the cone, i dont think it will be a problem since it is maybe a 1" section that isnt glued but i might just dab on some superglue just to be sure.

i am gonna try to install it this weekend some time, got some mat and liquid deadener to try to keep the rear deck from rattling apart.

and i will finally try to get some pics but it needs to be washed first.

i have one question though.

it is a d4 sub and it will be running off a sony xm-2100gtx which does 100x2 @4 or 250x1 @4, should i just wire each vs to a channel and give it 200 watts or risk running the amp bridged at 2 ohms for 350 ish watts?

~Magick_Man~

ok well the dust cap was worse than i thought, i plugged it in and it rattles like a biotch

and about half of it is unglued //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i just want to kick this seller in the nuts.

Sorry to hear about the bad pack job that always sucks..

Anyway I would say go sealed.. Its eazy & you know it will sound good..

IB you would need to make sure the front of the sub is sealed off from the back

It may take some work but you know...

Peace Troy

well i really want to try ib first.

the 16kv.2 i have in my car is running ib and i love it.

i got the baffle board cut this evening and i hope to get it thrown in there tomorrow.

the only thing that sucks is her spare tire is in the way so we are gonna pull it and get a smaller spare so it will fit.

i have about 12ft. of mat and plenty of liquid deadener so i hope we will be able to keep her deck from rattling all to hell.

i will try to get plenty pictures and will make a new thread tomorrow

now i just need to decide on how i want to power it, the amp is a sony 2 channel that does 100w x2 @4 or 250x1 @4.

it isnt 2 ohm stable bridged.

so should i

1)run each coil to a channel and give it 200 watts, or

2)bridge it and give it 300+ and hope the amp doesnt mind

~Magick_Man~

that should easily fit in your rear deck for ib install

p.s. can i have your car? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
muahahaha, no

and it is my mom's car so i rarely even get to drive it.

it needs a bit of work motor has 13x,xxx miles and it shows it.

still kicks *** though

it really needs to be re-tinted, the rear window is all bubbled up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

some day it is going to have a good going over to fix all the little things and re-build the motor (she wants air flow research heads //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif )
