IDMAX or Eclipse Aluminum?

So I have a dilema, I picked up an Idmax 10 v3 and have been looking at buying an Eclipse Aluminum 88120 DVC but I don't know which one will be better. I'm thinking the Eclipse will easily win the spl side since it's a 12 but the Idmax will win in the SQ side of things. What I'm looking for is something that has at least the same output as a single type R but with better SQ. Oh and for what power I'll be running it's probably going to be a MB Quart dsc 1500 or an Audiopipe 1500. Any help is appreciated.

I have never owned anything from Eclipse, but I own/have owned a lot of Image Dynamics equipment. I dont think you will be disappointed with the output from the Idmax. Throw it in a ported box with 300-1k rms and you should be pretty satisfied I imagine.

id go with the idmax. i really dont like the "ting" the aluminum cone eclipses have, Ti verson's are better by far but more expensive

not sure the idmax would like 1500w i would give it max around 1300w, but i would wire either of those amps to 2ohms and it should sounds really nice.

The cone has absolutely no affect on the sound. The ting you heard is something else, trust me, if you actually herd the cone it would be a ~2000Hz resonant frequency and you would have to actually send that frequency to your sub woofer. And obviously the Ti cones sound the same as the AL or paper or plastic or just about anything else you could make a bass woofer out of. Differences in woofers (apart from system design) is mostly a motor or compliance (suspension) distortion difference. That's what you will hear.

I had some Eclipse Alums and they sounded great. Played extremely low and plenty loud in a 1.25cube sealed box.

I think I'm slighty leaning towards the eclipse since I've heard nothing but good things about the aluminums and I know they have the TC sounds TC9 motor in them and tc is generally considered in the top tier or sub manufacturers. I've also heard nothing but how amazing the IDmax is so it's a tough one for me to actually decide

Eclipse is no more sadly, where would you be getting the Aluminum? Used? If you're buying new, you might also want to consider our new LMS-R 12" -its a leap beyond the old aluminum's for sound quality and output.
