IRWIN, Pa. -- An Internet prank called "Fire in the Hole" has lit a fire under police in one Westmoreland County community.
The prank involves people who drive up to fast-food windows then throw a drink at the worker there yelling "Fire in the Hole."
The pranks are videotaped or recorded on camera phones then downloaded to video-sharing sites like YouTube.
Police in North Huntingdon Township said Rob Morris, a clerk at the Subway restaurant on Route 30, was targeted Friday night.
But this attack had a twist. While police said the pranksters usually throw a drink that they have ordered at the clerk, this clerk was hit by a cup of liquid the prankster brought with him -- one that seems to have included hot pepper juice and other liquids that sting the eye.
Morris said, “He screams 'Fire in the hole!’ and launches the drink at me. As soon as it hit my face, my eyes were burning. All is I could think is how could someone do this? I mean, it's just not funny."
Morris says it was about 15 minutes before his eyes stopped burning.
The person who threw the liquid is a white male in his teens. He was driving a red dodge Dakota with an extended cab with a bug shield on the front hood and a black cover over the bed.
Police said they plan to charge the prankster with assault and other crimes if they can catch him.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
