ida-x100 and iphone 3g

anyone have this combo working? using the supplied cable from alpine i get "USB Device Error" on the x100 screen when i plug in my 3g. i get the airplane mode message on the 3g but it won't work for some reason.

just got off the phone with alpine and i am less than pleased. the alpine rep actually told me that the x100 and 3g are hit or miss - some work with the 3g and some do not. they have no idea why it is like this and will not be going back to update the x100. the only ida that is guaranteed to work with the 3g is the ida-x305.
