kenwood question???

i''m lookin at gettin an excelon x692. my question is this....i want to run both an ipod and thumb drive or external hard drive with it. there is only 1 usb port in the rear of the deck and that would be used by the ipod interface (kdc-ip100). so could i run the pigtail for the h/u into the glove box and connect it to a usb hub so i would have multiple inputs??? or do these hubs require some sort of firmware or software???

i haven't seen a hu yet, by any company, that will work with a usb hub. your best bet would probably be to run a usb extension to the glove box and then plug in what you wanted to use at the time. your other option would be to use the usb with the thumb drive and use the ipod via the headphone jack and an aux-in.

Newer Pioneer HU has 2 usb ports, Pioneer DEH 7100 I think has it, you might look forward to it. Check pioneers site.
