ICON or XCON?

I'm planning out my next woofer upgrade, and I am really leaning towards SSA for a quality SQL woofer. I have a Skar VVX10 D4 for now with a Sundown SAZ1500 powering it. My next woofer upgrade will be a D2, so I'll be able to take advantage of the 1500 watts. My question is, will the 1500 be enough for an XCON, or would I be better off with an ICON?

Is there much sound difference between the two, or is the XCON just built for more power?

I'm sure it'll move, lol I suppose I just wouldn't be getting the MAX potential out of it. But that would be way overkill anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter as much.

1500w would definitely be enough to see some serious excursion from that Xcon. And let's not forget, those Sundowns are really underrated. I own a 12" Xcon & love it, best/favorite sub I've ever owned. If you want SQL, get the Xcon.

My current box is 1.5cu ft tuned to 34hz with an 18in long, 4in diameter aero port with 6in flares. It gets loud in my GTI for sure. Up firing sub, side firing port. The box is 34in wide, 10in deep, 11in tall. Will I need a different box with an xcon?

I don't mind building another box, thats half the fun after all.

That box will work with the Xcon.

Not too familiar with the two but the icon is all SQ... The Xcon is SQL. BUT, dont quote me on that... Dont see why 1500 rms wouldnt get an xcon moving.
Not true at all. All of SSA's lineup can be said to be great SQL subs with the DCON leaning more towards SQ than output and the ZCON leaning more towards output than SQ.

SQL lol

I would go xcon or zcon.

now for some reason people seem to think power rating has something to do with efficiency, it doesn't. The xcon should get louder then the icon on any power put into it. I have been thinking about doing a video to prove big motor and big rms doesn't mean non efficient, but I doubt anybody would believe it since cheap always wins on forums.
