Ivv asked this question before but never really got the right awnser's lol. I'm looking to run my old style 40.1 at .25ohm daily now I have an excessive amerage 350 amp alt, big 3, s3400 up front, 3 d3100's in the rear with 4 run of knuconceptz 0 gauge 2 positive 2 negative.

First question is there enough electrical upgrades to support this?

2nd I dont wanna smell magic smoke but if the amp is staying cool it's impossible to do so?

3rd what would be an ideal rise number and type of power output should I possibly be seeing( estimate)?

even with a rock solid electrical like you say you have running any amp at .25 just isn't smart unless you REALLY don't care about the outcome for the amp especially for a daily setup.

Yea but isn't it gonna rise still above .5 which we all know the build quality of a 40.1, and if I don't let the amp get to warm how could something really happen?

Guy in TNESPL runs his VFL500.1 at .25ohm daily on stock electrical, 1 strand + and - and a kinetik 12V under the hood an another 12v kinetik in the trunk with no alt upgrade or big 3. It can be done. All this going to dual 1 ohm american bass HD 15's

You can't count on rise in a daily setup. Music is dynamic and changes and due to that fact so does the impedance. Impedance changes with the frequency. So you could step well under your .25 ohm load and kill your amp. Now if this was purely for burps and you knew where your impedance fell in relation with frequency you could do it.

for question 1, buy a dash mounted voltage meter. For question #2 , from electrical starvation, it should get hot....but it could smoke before major heat buildup..nobody can answer that. For question 3, it all depends on the sub and the enclosure as far as trying to guess impedance fluctuations.

Now my question...why do you want to completely destabilize a perfectly good amp? If it will operate at 1/4 ohm, it just means it will be stable at 1/2 ohm. If you just need more power, why not get a bigger amp?

i love the old 40's but I've bought 2 that smoked because the previous owner had them mounted to a box.spent $650 each and spent $400 and $550 to repair them.now i can thing of several things that i can spend $1k on .25 for burps hell yes they love it but for daily your looking for trouble. as stated before buy a bigger amp and sell the working 40.1
