I have had basic systems my whole life and i want to compete. Iam not sure of the rules or classes so info on that would be great. I want to build a 150 db system and was thinking of getting a hifonics brz 2400 and 2 mofo 124x in a ported box. Will that be enough and any info to help me would be greatly appreciated. It will be in a 2000 alero and i will do the electrical and what ever else needs done i also would like music if possible but to start off its not a big deal.

It depends what kind of 150 are you talking about, a 150 on music or on burps? What kind of vehicle do you have? thegreatestpenn is in Ohio and he does MECA so you would more than likely have to refer to that

You will need more than an amp and subs to hit your goal....

Batteries, HO alt, sound deadner...

And for any of us to give an honest answer, we need to know what car/truck this is going in.

Vehicle and install are the most important to consider. Some cars will get loud easy, some cars will not put up good numbers. There's a lot of trial and error involved. I just went to my first MECA event this past weekend (Ohio State Finals) and loved every minute of it. I plan on competing more often but probably wont have time for another event till spring (senior year of college).

unless your in really good with a shop or something competing is really a waste minus the fun time and bragging rights, but i would go to something local and see what all the classes are and if you think you could fit nicely in one of them in your budget

How dedicated will you be?

150 from a trunk is a pretty lofty goal, especially depending on what organization you want to compete in. MECA would probably be the easiest to get loud in with that car since they meter at the headrest and you can have doors/windows open which usually increases your score.

Your equipment choices are good for a budget build, but probably won't get you close to your 150+ goal. Most likely you'll need more power than that and some subs that can take that power. Electrical will also need to be thoroughly upgraded including a bigger alternator and additional batteries.

Be ready to spend MANY days testing, tuning, and rebuilding in order to reach your goal. SPL competition isn't easy and it's very time consuming.

couldn't have said it better my self.i wouldn't waste my money on that equipment, get better stuff.being that you will be working in a trunk ,go to caco and look up thorshammer ,he has a 50s trunk car .he can steer you in the right direction.but again no gonna be easy

he could do it on a burp in the right box but not on music. also depends on the car
This. I did it(outlaw) with less power and my first box attempt with the sub.

Out of a "sealed off trunk" with the sub and ports firing into the cabin, I've seen ~152 with a single 750 watt 12" sub and 3kw of power, metered outlaw.
