I vote Opera for best browser

You can speed up Firefox to be just as fast as Opera. Other than that, I don't like the layout of Opera. And people try to say IE7 "Upgrade whatever" is better than Firefox, but I'm pretty sure Firefox still has better security, AND you can add whatever utilities you want to firefox to customize it perfectly to your taste.
Imo, Firefox>Opera>All others>IE7

IE7 has a better TDI than FF2 (although Opera's MDI is better than all of them)...when will FF figure out how to integrate opening a new tab? Memory leakage and memory usage is lower on IE7 than on FireFox.

FF2 does load pages slightly faster than IE7 and does offer more customization....but IE7 seriously closed the gap. Add on the IE7 Pro plug-in and FF2 is fighting an up-hill battle.

I switched to Opera because all my favourite features in FF are available by default in Opera without the bloat of the "great" add-ons FF has.
I am way more satisfied with Opera than I ever was with FireFox. There are other good browsers out there (there are about 14 or 15 different ones I try periodically on my home PC) but Opera is #1 for me.

And IE7 closed the gap on FF in a really big way. Of course, the people who use FF will continue to talk about how much better FF is when reality says just the opposite.

IE7 + IE7pro. No FF for me. I admittedly haven't used opera in forever.

It's easy to do that when one has been out longer than the other. The biggest feature to IE7 was tabbed browsing which FF had been doing for years.

And Ctrl + Tab shifts through them.

Or if you'd prefer to select one out, Ctrl + 1-9 = will choose that specific one.

The only downside I currently run into with FF is not having the option to right click and save target as. Which ill do on IE. I usually jump back and forth between FF and IE and never really see it as an issue. They all have their ups and downs.

Netscape was doing it a decade ago. FF does not get the credit.
But, IE7 took tabbed browsing to a new level and then FF had to catch up.

How so? and I dont mean in a sarcastic smartass way, it seems to be pretty much the same thing, same controls, etc. What does it do that I havnt been using?

I recently tried Opera to see if it benefits me any better than Firefox. Mind you, I customized Firefox to fit every need I had. I could download torrents right through the browser as well as have the look that I wanted with my desktop. It was pretty hard to beat. My reason for trying another browser was that Firefox is slow as balls. Even with all of the tweaks in the world, it still took forever to load pages. IE was much faster, but it doesn't offer any customization.I downloaded Opera just to try out. At first I didn't like it. I kept trying to re-skin it to match my desktop and was not successful. After working with it for about a week, I've finally found a skin that I can work with. It is not as customizable as Firefox, however, as it is not as well known. I guess that's also a good thing as people aren't writing malicious software for it either. The ability to download torrents through the browser is built in with no 3rd party apps. needed. It also has an imap email client allowing me to check my email without opening Microsoft Outlook! The only thing I am missing now is the built in spell check. That's the only thing Firefox had that I'm missing. I guess if I search a little more, I'll find it though.

Opera is lighning fast. Way faster than IE and runs circles around Firefox. I love it. I've uninstalled Firefox after using it for 3 years. I still have to keep IE on my computer though as my company's website can only be viewed in IE. Otherwise it would be gone too.

It also has a built-in IRC client so you can download via IRC as well. You can use almost any 3rd-party spell checker w/ Opera (basically the only 3rd-party plug-in you'll need in Opera).

For you guys information, Opera invented tabbed browsing. As for security, I jumped on the Firefox bandwagon when it first came out. Firefox offered the best security and still continues to offer great security that IE cannot touch. However, since installing Opera, I have not had any incidents of hijacking to date. I'm guessing the security is about the same. You must also remember that Firefox is getting just as popular as IE, which means that there will be malicious software written for it.

The problem that I see with Firefox, is while you can configure it any way you like, by downloading all of those addons, you are ballooning the file size of Firefox. You'll notice that Firefox will run slower than ever. I know that for me Opera loads pages at least 30 times faster than Firefox. I even had Firefox tweaked. And while you can certainly speed up Firefox, it'll never be as fast as Opera. Believe me this is not biased as I had been previously using Firefox for 3 years.
