I Thought MTX Had Reliable Amps?!?!

i own 2 MTX TA81001 amps. every so often a little capactior falls out (about the size of a tootsie roll) and my amp goes into thermal protect and doset come out. i have replaced the circuit board 3 times!!!! someone had told me that its because my voltage drops really low? is that true

how is your amp mounted? i never have anything "fall out" of my amps.

sounds like it may be running too hot. check your gains, make shure there matched to your head unit pre-amp out put. but to be honest i have herd bad things about ther newer amps having many problems.

and yes if the voltage gets too low to often it will/can burn up the power supply.

I have owned sevreal MTX amp, the older ones. IMO they are some of the best I have ever owned...

1501d's were rock solid. They may of not put out the superdupermegamondo power that new amps in general do, but at least they kept putting out what they were supoosed to!

For what its worth, Powerbass 3000's were notorios for the capacitors falling out too, its a QC issue with the manufacturer... and if MTX's are having the same problems then thats quite unfortunate for people trying to sell them used now.

yes running them at low voltage will cause the amp to overheat & pass dc voltage.

this is why iam glad i bought back my old 81000d from a friend. ive beat on that amp and it just beats back and never,never gets hot.

you're not running it hard then if it doesnt get hot. mine gets hot, but never hot enough to shut down.

Their amps are fine, but nothing special. Sounds to me like user error.

ya i have a ta91002, and ta7402, no problems...
