i think i fvcked up my subs

ok, so i just went outside and turned the gain down until i couldn't hear them popping or bottoming out anymore and my result was terrible. I can now barely hear the subs even when playing "put on". I have my gain now at 65% and all the lows settings are maxed on the head unit and still, the subs sound like shit. I can't even really feel the bass, but i did get rid of the popping noise but now the subs can barely be heard.

Something isn't right here. My next step will be to see if one of the voice coils are fried, but is that possible and they still work?
