I suspect something may be wrong with my amp.

Setup: Kenwood KIV-BT900 HU (mechless)(6 months old)

HAT Imagine 6 1/2(1 week old)

Sound Stream Nano Picasso 4 channel amp (PN.320.4) 1 month old

Vehicle: Harley Davidson Electra Glide

Symptoms: The music sounds like it’s a skipping cd when there is no CD because im using a USB thumb drive. This symptom goes away when the bike is parked. This happened with the HU before the Kenwood as well so I dont suspect the HU to be bad. I have replaced the inline fuse to the correct amperage, I have rechecked the wires going to the amp and the HU and they all look nice and clean. I will recheck the wires to the speakers tonight and make a decision then. Am I missing anything that could go wrong? Is there is a setting on the amp I should be looking at?

Could be a cracked solder in the amp on a power or ground it will turn on and off when hitting bumps. With system on try banging on amp and wiggling power connections and see if it does it.

On the ride home it started to sound like the sound was going out at higher volume. I couldnt tell if it was one speaker going in and out or both at the same time. It didn't happen when I hit a bump but had surging sound at higher volume with deep bass tones.

So, I scraped the paint off the neck of the bike and re-grouded it there. I rechecked my RCAs and they are good. My speaker wires are nice and tight on the speakers and on the amp. I believe i have 8guage power and ground wires and they should suffice with the amp wattage. Should i step it up to 6 or 4. I know 4 is a little overkill but im getting clipping sound like it cant take much more power than what im giving it. (rap over heavy bass lines drop out at high volumes) when I went to the bigger fuse some of it went away. (At first i couldnt even listen to the music) Then when I cleaned up the ground connection a little more went away. I played it the loudedst i have played it ever on the way to work this morning and its still there but i dont know what else i can do to get it 100%. Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving.

How large of a charging system does the bike have. Sounds like its having voltage issues. Could you fit a larger battery on the bike like a kinetic hc600? Id recommend a volt meter hooked up to amps inputs to see where your voltage is durning issue.
