I struck gold??

I went to a garage sale today... picked up some cheap harmless stuff for $20

a really shitty Legacy LCD32FD HU

a decent Stinger 4 to dual 8 gauge distribution block

and an electronic crossover

but.... on closer inspection of the xover, I looked it up on line just for kicks!

it apparently sells for well over what I paid for it...

around $700 in 2004!

there are lot of newer ones out that are cheaper and better.

For it's time it was a sweet piece.

When they first came out Coustic was serious high dollar shit. Then I guess they startes to turn like everyone else with flashy colors and ads with riceburners and hot girls. I assume to try to mass market and get more of their product sold. But back then their stuff was serious high dollar and top of the line. This was like 10 years ago too. Atleast they did that much which is alot more than most of the manufacturers that have been around long do now. Try to find spec on older MTX equipment. It is pretty much non existant.

The unit is nothing special these days. The adjustable slope is a nice feature though. These days, stand alone crossovers are become a rarity, because many HU's and amps already have them.

from the looks of it all it is is a 2 way crossover. It doesnt have a bandpass on it. It has a multiplyer for the tweets but if you use mids it just has a high pass and no low pass so your mids better have a nice rolloff with no peaks in the higher end. I would buy it if it was a 3way. I think I am looking at it right.

memphis has a good 3-way eq out right now. Affordable too. I think we sell it for like $120 where I work.
