I quit smoking

congrats
Do the cravings lessen a lot after a few days?
When my father was quitting, the doctor said its only like 3 days that you chemically need a cigarette, after that, its just being able to mentally tell yourself you dont want a cigarette.
Im trying to quit my **** self, but man is it hard.
The first couple of days was a bish, luckily for me I had a bad upper respitory infection which makes it hard to smoke in the first place. Now its just fighting the mental battle.

have your mom call the doc some more about your meds. or have her teach you how to give head w/o getting neck spasms. you obviously didn't do it right, noob. Did she buy the cigs for you, too?

I have heard from quitters that after the first month it becomes very very easy to not smoke and some even find that smoking makes them feel bad

I never smoked anything before, but I used to chew Kodiak like it was bubble gum. I quit about 2 years ago cold turkey and have never looked back.

To answer your question directly, yes smoking one or two only when drinking is smoking. That is not quitting. Quitting is ZERO. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

The choice is yours though. You will only quit if you really want to. I really did want to quit so it worked for me. Only you can truly say whether or not you really want to quit.

well as much as i love smoking, I do want to quit. i've tried before when i didnt really want to quit and it just didnt work. Its more psychological than anything imo

I commend you on your ability to quit. I believe i can do anything that I am challenged with, except quit smoking. I stopped weed, coke, and drinking cold turkey...way back in the day, but smoking stuck and it is expensive!

u quiting cold turkey?

2-weeks for me cold turkey
That's really the only way IMO

I smoked for 7 years, quit cold turkey for 6 years. Started again for 6 months, quit cold turkey I've been w/o a smoke now for over 3 months.

I have a smoke or two when I drink sometimes, I usually crush the pack or give them away after I have 2 or 3 out of the pack.

Yes.

If you ever buy a pack just 'cause you're drinkin, always destroy the remaining cigs before bed.

It is not 100% psychological, but the chemical dependence is very short lived. I would assume you are already past that stage by now. You will only re-introduce that portion of dependency with your next smoke.

Mind over matter. Just remember that you CAN do it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I don't smoke, but know how hard it is for someone to give it up. Parents have been hardcore smokers for years and the longest my dad went was 4 years, but my mom 2 weeks, lol!!

Mom has been going strong for 45 days so far, which has beat her previous 2 week mark. I am proud of her because I know it is very hard for her to quit, especially having so much time on her hands being retired and all.
